Route: Johannesburg – Nelspruit – Komatipoort Border Post cross over into Mozambique .

Only one main road to follow – the  EN1 - before the main city of Maputo take the Turn off  to the left showing the Xai Xai sign. – Pass Xai Xai and Zandamela, Zavora etc. Follow the EN1

The road splits at Lindela, RIGHT to Inhambane but carry on LEFT to Maxixe!! So keep on the main road (left side), and don’t drive towards Inhambane town.

Pass Maxixe, then about 70 kms on pass the town of Massinga – 7km further on – look out for the Morrungulo Resort sign on the right. You will leave the tar road and turn onto the dirt road – carry on right to the end 13 kms in total (heading towards the sea).

(DIRT ROAD TURN OFF co-ordinates : 23o15’26.54″S 35o22’18.30″E)

4×4 vehicles are recommended but not essential. Sedans are also able to reach the camp except in times of excessive rains when the road becomes sticky.

The journey should take you approximately 8 hours from Komatipoort. If you are towing or want to make various stops then of course it will take longer. The highway from Maputo to the turn off is in excellent condition.

Directions from the North – (Zimbabwe to Morrungulo)
The distance from the Mutare border post to Vilanculos turn off is about 560kms. If you are traveling from Zimbabwe : follow the main Beira road past Chimoio and Gondola, and then turn south (right) at Inchope. This is the National road EN1to Inhassoro, Vilanculos, Morrungulo turn off and Maputo. You will cross the Revue, Busi and Save Rivers.   Parts of the road after the Save River Bridge between Inhassoro and Vilanculos are pot-holed and caution should be exercised.    Unguane is the last main town on the EN1 about 20 kms before you reach us. Keep your tank topped up along the way as some petrol stations on this route run out of fuel and there are long distances to the next garage. You will see the Morrungulo turn off 7 kms (left) BEFORE you reach the town of Massinga.  The dirt road to us is 13 kms.  Travel to the end of that road and you will see our cement wall entrance.
